Black Lives Matter

Saying “All Lives Matter” as a response to “Black Lives Matter” is like saying the fire department should spray down all houses even if only one house is on fire because all houses matter. Yes all houses matter but the fire department does not need to spray your house if your house is not on fire.

Take a Stand

People are likely going to start dying soon at Standing Rock. The Standing Rock Medic and Healer Council released the following statement:

“Our physicians and tribal healers call for the immediate cessation of use of water cannons on people who are outdoors in 28°F ambient weather with no means of active rewarming in these conditions. As medical professionals, we are concerned about the real risk of loss of life due to severe hypothermia.” Not to mention continuous use of tear gas, rubber bullets, stinger grenades and LRANDs.

Law enforcement shot down three media drones and also targeted journalists. National Lawyers Guild legal observers have confirmed that multiple people were unconscious and bleeding after being shot in the head with rubber bullets. One elder at the frontlines went into cardiac arrest but medics administered CPR and were able to resuscitate him. The camp’s medical staff and facilities are overwhelmed and the local community of Cannonball has opened their school gymnasium for emergency relief.

It’s hard to know how to really help and what to do for the people of Standing Rock, but these are some important actions that can be taken, and even the smallest efforts can make a difference. Remember all that evil needs to win is for good people to do nothing to help to fight it. We have to help. We must take a stand.
